Bogart, The African Queen, Bold Venture

Here is a bit of history of the making of the movie "The African Queen"


The African Queen was filmed mostly on location in Africa, where almost all the cast and crew suffered from malaria and dysentery—except director John Huston and Bogart, neither of whom ever drank any water. Hepburn, ever the urologist's daughter, disapproved of the two men's drinking and piously drank gallons of water each day to spite them. She wound up so sick with dysentery that, even months after she returned home, the famously vigorous actress was still ill.

Not many know that Humphrey Bogart and his wife Lauren Bacall starred in their own radio show, "Bold Venture"

For the October update I have added photos of those appearing on the "Gisele Of Canada" old radio show webpages. Not many remember the radio show even when considering many of the top stars of the period graced Gisele's show.

Just added photos of the stars for the old radio show "The Great Gildersleeve". I hope to have finished all the web pages with Star Photos by the end of the year. Just finished a great MP3 2-CD set of Ripely's Believe It Or Not. The set includes 30 and 15 episodes originating from the late 1930s to the early 1940's.  Look for the CDs in October when they will be made available on the website http://www.originaloldradio.com/.  You will also find the regular CD vesion available at http://www.radioshowcds.com/

An American In England

Don't let the picture throw you, the picture is that from the CD which features a radio show from the 1940's during WWII. It deals with dramatic stories of what an American soldier would find in war-torn England.
